When I graduated college, I was hired into a sales training program with a big technology company called Cisco Systems. My degree in business was not very focused on technology, and I must admit that I knew very little. (With the exception of using Microsoft, email, surfing the web, and downloading music!) But working in sales at Cisco meant that I needed to become certified in their technologies. I was learning everything from bits and bytes, to subnetting IP addresses, and how to program routers and switches! I developed a passion for technology but the sales and marketing world did not make me happy. I soon realized that I wanted to work with children as opposed to attending business meetings for the rest of my life...
Now that I've decided to pursue my masters in education, I'm finding a way to continue my passion for technology. EDU533 has shown me applications for the classroom that are so exciting. Some of my favorites are: Google Earth and Sky, LiveMocha, DonorsChoose, Glogster and Quizlet. And I love the laid back format of the classroom. What better way to learn than to "click and play?!" Thanks Dave, for answering so many of our questions and showing us so many exciting new ways to teach. I can't wait to use the various tools in my own classroom!
